讲座摘要：We link property transactions, voter registrations, and rooftop solar permits for 12.7 million U.S. homeowners (2014–2023). Republican homeowners are 19–30% less likely than otherwise-identical Democrats to install solar, robust to ZIP-by-year fixed effects, controls, and a pre-purchase test ruling out sorting. The gap widens where solar's economics are strongest and is unmoved by incentives or rates. Placebos on EV chargers and heat pumps are null; the gap peaks in politically competitive counties and scales with voting intensity—signatures of identity-based signaling, not belief differences. A sufficient-statistics calibration attributes roughly three-quarters of the $1,100 per-household NPV wedge to an identity tax. Hurricanes narrow the gap; wildfires widen it. Cumulatively, partisanship costs 130,000 installations, $4.3 billion in savings, and 12.6 Mt of avoided CO₂.
